Wednesday July 22 at 9:30a, a naturalist at Daggerwing Nature Center in Boca Raton teaches kids how to read a map and navigate with a compass, then sends them out to explore the preserve on their own. $10, ages 8 and up, reservation required.
North Palm Beach is painting a bench made from a recycled wind turbine this Thursday July 23 at 10a and invites kids to press a hand-print into it. Make Your Mark on the Park at Anchorage Park is free just stop in and Make Your Mark then come back to visit it for years to come.
JUPdog is running a paint night Thursday July 23 at 6:30p where your dog is the artist. They set your pup up with a 5x5 canvas, a mini easel, and paint, and you watch what happens next. $15 now, $20 at the door. All supplies included, proceeds go to My Why Rescue.
Riverbend Park sets light stations out after dark Friday July 24 at 7:30p to attract moths, and a guide walks kids through learning about the creatures that show up. Ages 8 and up, $5, reservation required.
Manatee Lagoon in Riviera Beach is always free and Saturday July 25 is the one morning this summer they go all out. Face painting, a sea grass scavenger hunt, food trucks, educational exhibits, and Mia the Manatee makes an appearance. 10a to 3p.
The Astronomical Society of the Palm Beaches runs a guided night hike through Okeeheelee Nature Center in West Palm Beach Tuesday July 28 at 7:30p for nocturnal wildlife. This will be one to remember. $5, ages 8 and up, reservation required.
The first Saturday of every month Home Depot hosts a free building workshop for kids. On August 1st, kids will learn how to build a rocket at most of our local Home Depot locations. Walk in anytime between 9a and noon, ages 5-12. Kits run out so get there early. Highly recommend to register soon if you plan to attend.
PBK Tip: The Loxahatchee River Center runs their Little Otters program at Blowing Rocks Preserve where 2-6 year olds can spend an hour in the lagoon dip netting for urchins, conchs, and crabs. Only twenty spots, fills every time. Registration for August 19 at 10a just opened. Must wear closed toe water shoes to go in the water, bring sunscreen and water.
